MARCH OUT FOR YOUR WELLBEING
Being in the great outdoors is the perfect tonic to make you and you pooch feel FANTASTIC!
You put an excitable skip in your step, you feel positive, happy and feel great about life! You'll notice that your doggy will feel the same!
It is well documented that there are strong links between regular physical activity and positive mental health as it keeps you stimulated, alert, reduces stress levels and depression and equips you to positively deal with any demanding situation.
This is exactly the same for your doggies! The longer and more frequent the exercise, the better for you and you dog, as it actively promotes:
Fun – dogs love getting out for a walk, even if it’s a slow potter with lot of stops to sniff.
Keeping in shape – building and maintaining muscle tone is a great way to support joints.
Bonding – taking time out of your day to spend time with your dog increases happiness for both of you.
Weight management – extra weight can put unnecessary stress on your dog’s joints, so keeping them trim is a good idea. Older metabolisms can be slower too, so exercise is really important.
A good nights sleep - sleep is so important for you and your dog to keep healthy and your body to function properly
We have created some exciting challenges for you to have a bit of fun when you are out and about on your adventures with your fur buddy.
They have a positive impact on both the physical and mental wellbeing of you and your doggies, as you get fitter, healthier and happier together.
You can complete the challenges with your fur buddy, or make it a social affair and step it up with your friends so you can walk and talk, putting the world to rights!
Whether you are a woodland wanderer, long distance hiker, beach explorer, mountain climber or marathon runner, there is a great selection of challenges suitable for everyone.
Walk or run between 3 miles all the way up to 250 miles or opt for a daily step goal throughout February:

GOT TOO MANY MEDALS?
Opt to swap your medal to feed a rescue pooch
There are a record number of dogs waiting for their forever homes in rescue centres across the UK. Some of this is caused by the effect of the covid pandemic.
With the cost of living increasing there is added pressure for animal rescue centres as they look after all the dogs in their care to make sure they are fed, kept warm, exercised and any medical needs tended to.
When you enter your challenge, you can choose to receive your bespoke Paw Runner medal or feed a rescue dog.
When you have smashed your challenge and sent us your evidence, we will donate dog food to a dog rescue centre in need on your behalf.
how long does it take to complete a challenge?
Each new challenge begins on the first day of the month and ends on the last day of each month. If you finish earlier, that's amazing work! Just email us your evidence once complete, to claim your well deserved finisher goodies
where can I do the challenge?
The beauty of this challenge is that you can do it in your own time, at your own pace, absolutely anywhere! At home, visiting a friend, on holiday, in your local park, woodland or a lovely stroll along the beach.
CAN I enter with more than 1 dog?
Of course! The more the merrier! When you have chosen your challenge there is a dropdown box for you to add as many dogs as you like. Each dog entered will receive a handmade bandana. Each month every design is bespoke to Paw Runner.
I DON'T HAVE A FITNESS APP OR TRACKER
That's not a problem, you can collect evidence by using a fitness tracker app on your phone, any tracker watch, join our Strava club or you can use a good old fashioned pen and paper to record your daily miles. We also provide a tracking sheet that you can download and record you're miles. Just send us a picture of a summary of your months activity to claim your finishers goodies.
CAN I COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE MIXING walking and running?
Yes that's absolutely fine. The main aim of the challenge is to encourage you to get out and active with your pooch. There are some days you will be more energetic than others! As long as you complete your chosen distance, we are happy and you should be very proud of yourselves!
